"Why Race? - Building a Framework and Common Language"
We begin by grounding ourselves in shared terms and truths. This session names what race is—and isn’t—while unpacking the roots of racial hierarchy and why talking about race clearly is a prerequisite to doing anything about it.
"Overcoming a Perfectly Executed Imperfect System – The Historical Context of Race in America and Education"
Education didn’t “fail” students of color by accident—it was designed this way. This session traces the architecture of exclusion embedded in U.S. schooling and invites us to confront the past in order to imagine a different future.
"#StandardsSoWhite – How Do We Dismantle White Supremacy in Our Curriculum While Still Meeting State Standards?"
Curriculum isn’t neutral—it tells a story about who matters. This session explores how to meet required standards without erasing culture, truth, or liberation. Practical tools meet bold questions here.
"Holding and Supporting High Expectations for Students of Color"
This is not about “rigor” for rigor’s sake. It’s about real belief in students' brilliance—and backing that belief with relationships, structure, and love that affirms rather than controls. We move from deficit thinking to possibility.
"Using Project Based Learning to Combat White Supremacy & Smash the Patriarchy"
In this session, we explore project-based learning as a tool of resistance. When students create real solutions to real problems, they aren’t just learning—they're reclaiming voice, agency, and purpose.
"From Borders to Belonging: Creating Emotionally Safe Spaces for Immigrant Youth"
Immigrant students carry invisible grief and survival stories into school. This session centers their emotional worlds, offering strategies for creating safety, honoring complexity, and showing up in solidarity—not pity.
"Creating a Culture of Confidence for Students of Color"
Confidence isn’t a personality trait—it’s a condition we help create. This session explores what it takes to build classroom cultures where students of color can take up space, make mistakes, and fully trust their own brilliance.
"Invisible and Undervalued: Advocating for Special Ed Students of Color"
This session focuses on the layered erasure of students who live at the intersection of race and ability. We name the quiet harm happening in “support” systems and offer ways to advocate with clarity and compassion.
"Pedagogy of Possibility: Reclaiming Joy and Justice in the Learning Space"
Wonder isn’t an escape—it’s a way in. This session reimagines teaching as a creative, justice-rooted practice that centers joy, curiosity, and the sacred aliveness of learning, especially for students of color.
"The Sacred Pause: Wonder as Resistance for Worn Out Educators"
For those holding both the classroom and the collective grief, this is a place to exhale. We reflect on how wonder, stillness, and noticing can become powerful forms of resistance and healing for the overextended educator.
